Our purpose
Powering what's important
Electricity is what keeps a clinic open at night, a classroom lit and a small business trading. Our purpose is to help bring clean, sustainable and affordable energy to the places and people that depend on it most.
Our focus
Hydropower is at the centre of our work. Solar power complements it, and we are assessing whether clean hydrogen can play a practical role. In every case we are interested in projects that fit their local conditions: the resource, the intended use of the energy, the connection to wider infrastructure and the effects on people and the environment.
Where we are today
Our work remains at the planning and assessment stage. A project under consideration is not an operating asset, an approved development or a commitment to build. We will explain those distinctions when publishing project information.
How we work
Our principles
Evidence before commitment
We assess the resource, the costs and the effects of a proposal before making promises about it, and we distinguish estimates from confirmed facts.
Respect for rivers and land
Water and land are shared. We treat the needs of ecosystems and other users as conditions of a good project, not obstacles to it.
Partnership with communities
People affected by a proposal should understand it and be able to raise concerns. We aim to make information clear and accessible.
Responsibility over the long term
Energy infrastructure lasts for decades. We plan for the whole life of a project, from design and construction to operation, maintenance and eventual renewal.
