Why Sri Lanka
Hydropower has long been part of Sri Lanka's electricity system. Rivers that rise in the central highlands and fall towards the coast offer opportunities for renewable generation, provided each site is assessed with care.
Understanding the resource
Renewable projects depend on the quality and reliability of the available resource. For hydropower, river flows, seasonal variation, ecology and other water uses are central to the assessment. Solar power is being considered as a complement that generates during daylight hours.
Designing for the location
Access, grid connection, land arrangements and environmental conditions influence whether a proposal can proceed. These questions need to be addressed before construction plans or performance estimates can be treated as settled.
Current stage
Our work in Sri Lanka is at the planning stage. We will publish project details when the location, technology and development status are sufficiently defined.
Our approach to hydropower
A growing demand for clean power
As towns and cities grow, so does the need for electricity that is clean, dependable and fairly priced. Renewable generation from the island's own rivers and sunlight can help meet that need while reducing reliance on imported fuel.
Solar power as a complementEnergy for everyday life
From city markets to village celebrations, reliable electricity underpins the rhythm of daily life. Clean, affordable power can support it for decades to come.
